Dakota Digital Compass with Outside Temperature Modules
More data--not more holes; Dakota Digital compass with outside temperature modules give you direction without having to install another gauge. You don't need to cut holes out, install a column on your pillar, or mount a pod on your dash! Part of their BIM Series of expansion modules, these units provide you with an 8-direction compass, plus the outside air temperature. Updating your ride with information you can use is easy, thanks to Dakota Digital and their BIM Series compass/outside temperature modules.

Q:
1 - Can this unit display the temperature in degrees Celsius on my HDX gauges? 2 - I can see that the module must point towards the front however can the module be mounted upside down as long as it points forward?

When configured to celsius in the HDX all temperatures will be displayed thay way. I would assume it would still work but not positive. I mounted mine upright.

Thank you for the question Brandon, the BIM-17-2 will work with RTX or any of our other complete gauge systems such as VFD, VHX, HDX.

Dakota Digital BIM 17-2. Where do the sensors go and which LCD displays the result? Are both results displayed at once or is it necessary to toggle back and forth? Thanks.

Thank you for your question. Dakota Digital BIM-17-2 units add compass and outside air temperature information to the VFD3/ VHX instrument systems. Readouts are visible in the instrument system's message centers; sending units and mounting hardware included. The message center will need to be scrolled through to display this information.

I got this for a add on for my Dakota Digital HDX gages for my 1974 Caprice. The unit was easy to in stall and woks great it nice knowing the outside temp and you travel direction on you gage like the newer cars come with.

I purchased this with DAK-RTX-79C-PU-X. It was easy to install and calibrate. It adds a nice feature to the base unit however it gives me outside temperature warnings from time to time which are false and very distracting. Am currently working with tech support for a fix.

I added this to my 65 Mustang because during the summer I waned to know what the outside temp was when driving. The only issue I had come up is when using this with my VHX system, I had to plug the VHX into both Switched and Battery power. The instructions say you can go to Accessory power, but when I did that this sender didn't work. After going to switched power all is well.

This module was a nice addition to the HDX series of Dakota Digital gauges that I installed on my 1980 Camaro JS conversion. It was a very easy install and added just a couple of more parameters on the beautiful instrument cluster.
